Suarez to join Liverpool tomorrow

Tomorrow night Suarez is scheduled to arrive in Melbourne to link up with his team-mates.

His flights are booked and Reds officials are convinced he will fulfil his duties.

Once the Uruguayan has recovered from the jet-lag, manager Brendan Rodgers and Ayre will hold face to face talks with him for the first time since he announced his desire to quit the Reds back in May.

To suggest that Liverpool are resigned to losing last season’s 30-goal top scorer is wildly inaccurate.

If anything the past few weeks have strengthened the club’s resolve to keep their prized asset who is under contract for a further three years.

Liverpool will reinforce the point to Suarez that despite his best attempts to stir up interest, there has been only one bid for his services and that was a derisory £30million offer from Arsenal.

The Gunners have yet to increase that figure for a player Rodgers values around the same mark as fellow Uruguayan Edinson Cavani, who went to Paris St-Germain from Napoli for £55million.

During the talks Down Under Rodgers and Ayre will make it clear that under no circumstances will they allow this saga to drag into next month.

They will also map out to Suarez their vision to take the club forward this season and speak to him about the signings they have in the pipeline.

The message will be clear – give us another 12 months to prove to you that our ambition matches your own.

Don’t go elsewhere to play in the Champions League, stay and fire us back into Europe’s elite.

Liverpool expect Suarez’s future to be much clearer by the time they head for Bangkok on Thursday.

The hope is that by then he will have abandoned thoughts about leaving and reaffirmed his commitment to the cause.

It promises to be an intriguing week.

5 Reasons why Luis Suarez is better than Robin Van Persie

5) Country:

Few days ago Luis Suarez became Uruguay’s all-time leading scorer at the age of just 26 years old after grabbing his 36th Uruguayan goal. Luis Suarez performs both for Liverpool and Uruguay. It is unknown where he will be come the end of the Summer, but you can't take anything away from how great this guy is..

4) Playmaker

Luis Suarez doesn't have the greatest finishing in the World but the reason why he scores so many goals is because he is a play maker. He can weave him way through the whole team and poach in a goal at the end of it. On the other hand Van Persie can finish but doesn't have the impact that Luis Suarez has at Liverpool..

3) TEAM

It's fair to say Luis Suarez didn't exactly have the best team to play with last season yet he still managed to score goals and rescue Liverpool at times. Van Persie on the other hand had the advantage of playing with the Premier League Champions..

2) Impact

Let's face it, Liverpool would have finished a lot lower if it wasn't for Luis Suarez. He is an impact player who can pick goals out of absolutely nothing. The impact he had on the Liverpool team last season was remarkable. His work rate is also unquestionable.

1) Consistent

Last season Luis Suarez was consistent right the way through the season. Van Persie on the other hand had a big dip in form near the end of the season where he didn't score for quite a number of games. This didn't stop Van Persie winning the golden boot though after Luis Suarez received a ban.
